Leicester City Football Club is an English professional football club, based at the King Power Stadium Leicester. They are also known as the Foxes. They are the rising glory of their city, after winning the Football Championship in 2013-14.
Founded in 1884, Leicester City was elected to the Football League in 1894, and were officially known as Leicester City Football Club in 1919. They have been playing at the King Power Stadium since 2002, while it was still known as the Walkers Stadium. The Premier League was won in the year 2015-16, which was their first top-level football championship.
They are the only one club, out of six, to have won the Premier League, since it started in 1992. This win was regarded as one of the Football Fairy-tale of the history. Before winning this title, their highest ever win was the second place in the top flight in 1928-29. It is worthy to note that Leicester City Football Club holds six second division and one championship title.
They have also been the FA Cup finalist four times notably on years 1948-49, 1960-61, 1962-63 and 1968-69. In 1971, Leicester City won the FA Community shield, and in 2016 they were the runners up. As for the League, they won this in 1964, 1997 and 2000.
2014 is a year to remember for Leicester City, when they won the match against Manchester United. Fans will surely say that it is one of the greatest comeback ever at the King Power Stadium. The match ended in 5-3 score, where the Foxes defeated the red devils. The team majestically levelled up with four goals in the last thirty minutes. After this match they made history by becoming the first team to beat Manchester United by two goals since the launching of the league back in 1992.
For the moment, Leicester City stand in the 15th position in the Premier League standing. With 3 matches left against West Ham, Middlesbrough and Chelsea until January 2017, let’s hope that they make it to the finish line and might make history again!
